ZAMBARA was a package design project completed in 2014. ZAMBARA’s Jollof Rice illustrates a deco art feel. It’s design illuminates a rich, elegant, and sophisticated design intended for middle-class working consumers that desire gourmet food that can be quick and easy to make. In addition, to having a taste for international cuisines. Jollof Rice originated from west Africa and has a taste of potent spices for a rich taste. It was later discovered that the actual product name “Zambara” is in fact a country in southeast Africa. African masks and tribal patterns from West Africa were researched and explored. These samples were selected as inspiration to construct the visual design of the package. All the visual patterns and elements are all custom designed and original.
